New York's Letter-of-marque and Privateers

I am researching an English officer called George Raymond. Amongst his many adventures he was on HMS Belle Poule (38) that captured a prize, I think either the letter-of-marque Revenge or the American schooner Grand Napoleon. He was in turn captured by the letter-of-marque Volante that was from New York. He was retaken on the 26th of March by the HM Sloop Curlew and later transferred to the Shannon and was on her when she met the Chesapeake.
Does anyone have any information on the letter-of-marque and privateers that sailed from New York?
John
